- Graphical abstract: Abstract: Synthesis of single enantiomers of mycolyl arabino glycerols, glycolipids previously isolated from Mycobacterium avium – Mycobacterium intracellulare complex, is described using a modified glycosidation method and esterification with structurally defined synthetic mycolic acids. Thel -glycero-compound has an essentially identical NMR spectrum to the arabino-glycerol fragment of the natural material.
