Abstract

Graphical abstract: Highlights: A metal-organic gel has been prepared with copper sulfate and 2, 7-bis(1-imidazole)fluorene in DMF. The gel was characterized by FT-IR and SEM spectroscopy. The gel could act as a fluorescence and colorimetric sensor for ammonia. Abstract: A fluorescence and colorimetric chemosensor for ammonia based on 2, 7-bis(1-imidazole)fluorene and copper sulfate metal-organic gel (Cu(II)-BIF-MOG) has been synthesized and characterized. The gel-coated sheet sensor exhibits good sensitivity and selectivity for ammonia with a detection limit of 5 ppm.
