Abstract : (Abstracted from Crit Care Med, 44:468–477, 2016) Despite an uptick in interest regarding patients who receive massive red blood cell (RBC) transfusions, little is known about patient characteristics and mortality in this particular population. Researchers culled data on Swedish and Danish patients to determine the incidence of and outcomes associated with massive transfusion (MT).
