- Abstract: It is of importance to develop earth-abundant, low-cost and efficient catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Herein, we prepare Ti3 C2 Tx -FeOOH heterostructure that exhibits excellent electrochemical performance with a potential of 1.65 V at 10 mA cm −2, a Tafel slope of 31.7 mV dec −1 and outstanding stability for OER in alkaline medium. The superior catalytic activity is attributed to the synergistic coupling between amorphous FeOOH QDs and Ti3 C2 Tx . This study offers a new pathway for MXene-based materials toward OER in alkaline media. Highlights: Amorphous FeOOH QDs anchored on Ti3 C2 Tx nanosheets show highly efficient electrocatalytic activity for oxygen evolution. The catalytic reactivity is enhanced by synergistic effect between Ti3 C2 Tx and FeOOH. As-synthesized electrocatalysts show small Tafel slope and high stability in OER.
