- Abstract : In article number1706285, Guy Makov, Yuval Golan, and co‐workers review the thermodynamic stability, synthesis routes, properties, and possible applications of a newly discovered family of semiconducting materials, cubic π ‐phase monochalcogenides (MX, M = Sn, Ge; X = S, Se). To date, only π ‐phase tin monochalcogenides have been observed experimentally while π ‐phase Ge‐monochalcogenides are predicted to be stable but are yet to be experimentally realized. These materials could find applications in a number of photovoltaic and optoelectronic applications.
