- Abstract: Highly ordered neodymium-substituted bismuth titanate (BNdT) nanowires were prepared using anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) template method. The microstructures of AAO templates and neodymium-substituted bismuth titanate (BNdT) nanowires were investigated using a field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). Diameter distribution of the BNdT nanowires indicated that the average diameter was about 28 nm with a length of 300 nm. X-ray diffraction pattern confirms that the BNdT nanowires crystallized in the orthorhombic phase with a high degree of crystallinity. In addition, the lattice constant and the peak position of the (171) peak of bismuth titanate shows a small value of contraction with neodymium (Nd) substitutions. The electrical measurements were conducted on metal-ferroelectric-semiconductor-metal (MFSM) capacitors. Current–voltage ( I – V ) characteristic response of the BNdT nanowires shows a low leakage current and high insulating properties at low voltages. Polarization–electric field ( P – E ) response of BNdT shows a good ferroelectric property for all samples at room temperature.
