Abstract

Abstract: The phase analysis of combustion prepared cobalt ferrite is investigated in detail. Phase analysis was discussed in detail with the combustion of the gel to amorphous natured cobalt ferrite. The evolution of phase with respect to the calcinations was discussed in detail with thermal analysis. The cubic phase was indexed through powder X-ray diffraction analysis. The particle sizes of nanocrystalline cobalt ferrite (CoFe2 O4 ) were found to be of the order of 50 nm. The detailed micro and nanostructure phase was visualized through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) was used to determine the magnetic nature of the sample. The B-H curve for the synthesized nanocrystalline cobalt ferrite is discussed in detail in the present investigation.
