Abstract

Abstract: The issues of development of underground space and transport infrastructure of the Russian cities were neglected several decades. The consequences of a lack of a coherent urban policy are not long in coming, and today the comfort level of accommodation in Russia is lower than in large cities of developed countries. The article presents the major problems faced in construction in Russian cities and the ways of their solutions by the using of underground space. Special attention is paid to the peculiarities of urban policy in Saint-Petersburg.
