- Abstract:
- Unlike in the US, there is no established Black Studies in the UK, black history is officially recognised just in Black History Month. But there is now a resurgence of interest in the era of British Black Power and the way Black became a political colour in the UK. This provides a guide to (non-fiction) literature (in the period 1950s–1980s) on black political agency and the emergence of Black Power in the UK. It concentrates on materials produced during the time under review but also on that produced later which provides retrospective information and analysis, particularly from those who were part of activity at the time.
