Abstract

Abstract : (Abstracted from Anesth Analg, 122:1992–1999, 2016) Although the American public views physician board certification as a marker of clinical excellence, it is unknown whether clinical performance during residency is related to the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) oral examination scores. The present study examines the degree to which clinical performance scores from the final year of residency are independently associated with oral examination scores when the oral examination is administered roughly 1 year after the completion of residency, hypothesizing that resident clinical performance would be independently associated with oral examination performance because the oral examination is designed to test for clinical judgment.
