- Highlights: Analysis of asymptotic solution of the Vorticity Confinement term. Development of a third-order Vorticity Confinement scheme for the Euler/RANS equations. Consistency of the scheme with higher-order flux discretization. Validation of the third-order VC scheme. Abstract: A new 3rd-order Vorticity Confinement scheme is presented as an extension of the original VC2 scheme developed by Steinhoff for the resolution of the fluid dynamic equations. The theoretical developments are explained, and the method is tested. The results obtained show that the new scheme combines the accuracy of the underlying higher order scheme and the confinement capability of the original VC2 method.
