- Highlights: Phthalic acid was measured during three aircraft measurements over China. Phthalic acid was 15–2000 times greater than those from ground measurements. Phthalic acid was sometimes even higher than oxalic acid in warm seasons. Evaporation of plasticizers may contribute substantially to phthalic acid. It is urgently needed to explore the source and formation process of phthalic acid.
