- Abstract:
- Abstract: In the present paper the link between renewable energy generation and imports dynamics is explored in import demand equations. We find that renewable energy generation reduces import growth. The results display a considerable robustness across estimation methods and model specifications. Highlights: We study the effect of renewable energy generation on imports. We use import demand equations. We consider 26 countries over different time periods. We use a dynamic panel GMM estimator and various other estimators. Renewable energy generation reduces imports to a significant extent.
