Abstract

Abstract: Of late, it is common to see the use of asynchronous forum in a hybrid learning environment. This study employs Wise, et al., 's (2012) patterns of listening behaviour to explore the students' interaction level in an online forum platform. Listening behaviour refers to tasks such as when and how students interact in discussion forums. A total of 23 postgraduate students from a public higher educational institution in Malaysia involved in this study. Using a cluster analysis method, the results indicated four types of listening behaviours. Based on these analyses, some strengths and potential weaknesses in the discussion forum were identified.
