Abstract

Abstract: The article presents the development of the heat pump market in Europe, with special attention given to Poland, over the 2000–2013 period, basing on available statistical data and own research. Increasing pressure and the need for effective use of energy is particularly applicable to residential and public buildings, as they are one of the largest energy consumers. Heat pump technology constitutes one of such solutions whose implementation can bring measurable effects energy and economy wise. It has been particularly apparent over the last few years when one considers the sizes of new appliances installed which have been increasing. This paper focuses on the presentation of the development and current state of the heat pump market in European countries, by the means of tables, graphs and a descriptive part. A review of support systems for heat pumps for selected countries has also been done. Polish market experiences are described against that background.
