Abstract

Abstract : Abstract: The differential diagnosis of clear cell tumors within the jawbones can be challenging and includes various odontogenic, salivary, and metastatic tumor types. In this review, we discuss the following diagnostic considerations: calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor, clear cell odontogenic carcinoma, odontogenic carcinoma with dentinoid, primary intraosseous mucoepidermoid carcinoma, primary intraosseous squamous cell carcinoma, and metastases to the jawbones. In particular, we highlight helpful diagnostic features, recent advances, and areas of controversy.
