- Abstract : Introduction: Hypertension is the most largest incidence of disease in the world with almost one billion cases. Prevalence in Indonesia was 8, 3% which is the most complication that could happen is renal failure. Presentage of renal failure in hypertension patients started by endothelial dysfunction in the renal blood vessel until nefrosclerosis. The main factor that makes this can be happen is imbalance of Nitrite Oxide and Reactive Oxygen Species with early manifestation microalbuminuria cause by increasing albumin level in the urine and became macroalbuminuria. By giving allopurinol as Xanthine Oxydase inhibitor, endothelial dysfunction can be decrease. Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of allopurinol in reducing endothelial dysfunction in hypertensive patients. Method: This study is a double blind random trial in cross over add on form. Subject of research are hypertension patients that have medical control in nefrology and hypertension clinic in the Internal Medicine Dr. Mohammad Hoesin (RSMH) Hospital Palembang began from November to Desember 2013. Result: Research subjects were 40 patients with 50% men and 50% women. Effect of allopurinol on reduction microalbuminuria (114.35 ± 50.76 to 18, 6 ± 9.77, p = 0.000), by administration allopurinol tablet 300 mg once daily for four weeks.
