Abstract

Abstract: In this paper, the integrated planning of production, maintenance, and quality in deteriorating systems is investigated. The production planning part of the model addresses a multi-product lot-sizing problem with deteriorating quality and in quality planning, we discuss the optimal determination of an inspection process that is used to study the hidden state of the system. Considering imperfect maintenance linked to the machine age and with several possibilities for improving the machine conditions, a maintenance plan determines the type of operations to be performed on the machine in each intrusion. These decisions are simultaneously linked to the lot-sizing and quality decisions where the objective function minimizes the total cost of the system. A numerical example and sensitivity analysis of the problem are also presented.
