Abstract

Abstract : Dosimetry for ion beams has to account for a number aspects differing from photon and electron beam dose measurements and has not yet reached the same level of accuracy. Also, procedures for quality assurance of complex beam deliveries can be very time-consuming. After touching on the specifics of ion beams, this presentation will give an overview on recent achievements in reference dosimetry, especially by calorimetric measurements. After that it will highlight new developments for non-reference situations such as time-efficient ionization chamber arrays. In a last part, the potential role of track detectors for cellular dosimetry will be discussed.
