- Graphical abstract: Abstract: A series of organochalcogen tridentate ligands containing N, Se/Te, N donor atoms has been synthesized. Three fluorophore ligands show that Hg 2+ ions can be selectively detected in the presence of different interfering cations, that is, Zn 2+, Cd 2+, Cu 2+, Co 2+, Ni 2+, Ca 2+, Na +, K + and Ag + .
