Graphical abstract: Abstract: The three-component reaction between pyridines, alkyl propiolates, and secondary phosphine chalcogenides occurred under mild conditions to regio- and stereoselectively afford ( E )- N -ethenyl-1, 4-dihydropyridines substituted with a chalcogenophosphoryl moiety at the 4-position of the pyridine ring in up to 86% yield.
