Abstract : Styrylsilanes serve as new coupling reagents for introducing organic functional groups on silica and glass surfaces. Functionalized styrylsilanes, which are readily prepared via catalytic hydrosilylation of the corresponding phenylacetylenes with silanes, are immobilized on silica through acid catalyzed processes under mild conditions.
