The image shows that atomic layer deposition (ALD) and molecular layer deposition (MLD) are two new research techniques enabling to address existing issues in Li‐S batteries for high‐energy storage used for future transportation and smart grids. Abstract : " The recent progresses of using atomic and molecular layer deposition (ALD and MLD) for addressing issues existing in Li–S batteries is summarized. Two technical routes, i.e. surface modifications and electrode designs are discussed in detail. The application of ALD for the deposition of inorganic materials and MLD for organic‐‐inorganic materials are described, approaching high‐performance Li–S batteries ."
