- Abstract: The ionization of through the impact of fast protons is treated within the fixed nuclei approximation by using the Born and CDW-EIS models, in which accurate electronic wavefunctions are applied to the ion. The differential cross sections are compared to those calculated by an alternative CDW-EIS treatment via use of the two-effective center (TEC) approximation. Generally, the calculations with and without the TEC approximation give similar results, however, discrepancies can be observed in the domains of differential cross sections with relatively small values.
