- Abstract : The behavioural lateralisation of a species is thought to be influenced by social organisation. However, recent studies of insect species with different social structures suggest that traits showing both population-level and individual-level lateralisation can be found in single species. This has broad implications for our understanding of how lateralisation and handedness evolves.
