Abstract

Abstract : The arrangement of water near a surface regulates the adsorption and desorption of surface species. X‐ray scattering measurements presented by Martin E. McBriarty, Kevin M. Rosso, and co‐workers in article number1705618, reveal precisely how water molecules near the hematite (α‐Fe2 O3 ) surface rearrange in response to applied cathodic bias. These measurements shed new light on (photo)electrochemical reactions at oxide electrodes and mineral dissolution under far‐from‐equilibrium conditions.
