- Highlights: Isomerism is at the core of the problem of the relation physics-chemistry. Optical isomers with different handedness are chemically different. The Hamiltonians of optical isomers with different handedness are identical. Decoherence does not solve the problem of optical isomerism (OI). The modal-Hamiltonian interpretation explains OI in terms of symmetry breaking.
