Abstract

Abstract : The medication‐use process surrounding parenteral nutrition (PN) is complex and associated with safety concerns. Standardization and communication throughout the PN‐use process are a valued risk management strategy. Regardless of an organization's current policies, procedures, and practices, further improvements in the PN‐use process are always possible. This takes concerted effort, collaboration, and time but is within the reach of any organization. A case report of one institution's quality improvement initiative in the PN‐use process is described.
