- Abstract : ( BJOG . 2017;124:929–934) In the United Kingdom, all women are offered labor induction between 40 and 41 weeks gestation with goal of decreasing the risk of stillbirth. However, this risk may occur earlier in women 35 years and older so it may be beneficial to offer labor induction sooner. However, induction at an earlier gestational age might increase the risk of cesarean delivery. Therefore, a multicenter, randomized trial was performed comparing labor induction and expectant management at 39 weeks gestation in women 35 years and older. This current article reports on a cost-utility analysis that was conducted in conjunction with the clinical trial.
