Abstract

Abstract : This article explores T.H. Marshall's ideas on citizenship rights by providing a detailed overview of his citizenship framework, which offers the foundations for defining and discussing the nature of public welfare provision in the 21st century. This article affirms that rights represent the essence of citizenship. It contributes to rebuilding and strengthening the recognition of the rights and claims of citizens. It also seeks to improve the understanding of the central organising principles of a public welfare state and its role in welfare provision and redistribution as part of citizenship rights, as proposed by T.H. Marshall.
