Abstract

Graphical abstract: Abstract: A new approach toward the synthesis of the hydrophobic moiety of rhamnolipid derivatives has been developed, involving two key cross-metatheses and an unusual Mitsunobu reaction. Small structural variations of the side chains should enable a better understanding of the role of the lipid moiety in immunostimulatory and plant defense eliciting properties.
