Abstract

Absract: Typhoid and paratyphoid fever are acute, life-threatening febrile illnesses caused by systemic infection with the bacterium Salmonella enterica . Nineteen cases were reported in South Africa in 2016. We report on two cases of bacteraemic invasive S. typhi with fluoroquinolone resistance.
