- Pure and Ni-doped ZnO nanoparticles were synthesised by using hydrothermal method. The microstructures of ZnO nanomaterials were characterised by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The optical absorption spectroscopy shows shift in band gap energies for Ni-doped ZnO nanocrystals. The room temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy shows dominant emission peaks in the visible region. Ni-doped ZnO nanoparticles exhibit better photocatalytic activity for the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange, indicating that doped ZnO nanomaterials are promising material for photocatalyst.
