- Abstract: Graphene Oxide (GO)/α-MnO2 nanocomposite air breathing cathodes were prepared using mechanical alloying method. For preparation of GO/α-MnO2 nanocomposite cathodes, GO was produced by Hummer's method and α-MnO2 nanowires were synthesized using microwave hydrothermal synthesis. In order to investigate effect of GO on the electrochemical performance of the GO/α-MnO2 cathodes, different amounts of GO (10 wt.%, 30 wt.%, 50 wt.%) were dispersed in the composite cathode. Electrochemical performances of the composite cathodes were tested using ECC-Air test cell. Among the produced composite cathodes, GO/α-MnO2 composite cathode containing 50 wt.% α-MnO2 showed 380 mAh/g discharge capacity after 30 cycles.
