- Abstract: Chemical composition of the hydrodistilled essential oils of the inflorescence and seed Pimpinella khayamii were determined by GC and GC/MS at two consecutive years. The yields of inflorescence and seed oil were 1.1%, 1.9% and 1.0% and 1.6% w/w in first and second year, respectively. There were twenty eight and twenty four compounds inflorescence and seed oil in first year that changed to twenty nine and twenty one compounds in second year. They account for 68.4%, 91.0% and 88.4%, 94.3% of inflorescence and seed total oil in first and second year, respectively. Main components in inflorescence were pregeijerene (6.3% and 13.8%), α-ecophene (9.6% and 9.4%), β-cubebene (11.0% and 9.8%) and (E)-β-farnesene (6.3% and 8.1%) in first and second year, respectively. Major constituents of seed oils were pregeijerene (8.4% and 32.2%) and (E)-β-farnesene (42.1% and 31.2%) in first and second year, respectively. Study of antimicrobial effects was done by disk diffusion method. The results of analysis of variation showed that there was significant difference (α≤ 0.01) between treatments in all designs.
