Abstract

Highlights: Streptococcus suis is a zoonotic infection associated with swine. Human cases present with bacteremia, arthritis and meningitis. Our case occurred in North America, where this disease remains exceedingly rare. Providers should be aware that meningitis can have a prolonged course. Abstract: We report a case of recrudescent Streptococcus suis meningitis requiring a prolonged treatment course. A few similar cases can be found in the burgeoning literature on what remains a relatively uncommon disease in humans, and these patients should be monitored carefully upon completion of therapy.
