- Abstract: The paper justifies the types of regular microreliefs with variable parameters on the replaceable cutting inserts (RCI) rake surfaces. The theoretical research of the RCI cutting with regular microreliefs and local cutting wedges are executed. The effect of the microrelief parameters on the cutting process (the cutting force, temperature and tool wear) is considered. The application of electrochemical, electrical discharge and laser machining for the production of regular microreliefs with variable geometrical parameters is justified. Some examples of cutting by various RCI with regular microreliefs on the cutting wedges rake and flank surfaces are presented.
