Abstract

Abstract : The micro-pore structure of porous graphite presents remarkable heterogeneity and self-similarity, which is very difficult to be described by Euclidean geometry, but can be accurately characterised by fractal theory. The results show that the volume porosity range from 27·32 to 32·56%; the area fractal dimensions range from 1·683 to 1·829; the volume fractal dimensions range from 2·898 to 2·935; and the fractal dimensions of boundary projection range from 1·09 to 1·23, respectively. The fractal dimensions indicate the heterogeneity of the micro-pore structure. Moreover, the porosity of porous graphite is deduced by fractal theory, and the mercury injection test is developed to verify the fractal expressions. The results show that the experimental data agree well with theoretical values.
