- Abstract : ( Obstet Gynecol. 2015;126:521–529) It has been suggested that midpelvic operative vaginal delivery methods (eg, vacuum extraction, Thierry's spatulas, or forceps) might significantly increase maternal and neonatal morbidity. However, the data are not up-to-date. Subsequently, the authors of the present study assessed severe maternal and neonatal morbidity after attempted operative vaginal delivery and also compared morbidity after midpelvic and low pelvic delivery attempts.
