- Abstract : We have successfully synthesised four different CuO nano-flowers by the hydrothermal routes with different copper salts and additions under different conditions. The obtained samples were characterised by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. We described the morphology features of the four different CuO nano-flowers. Furthermore, we investigated the effects of additions except copper salts on the formation of different CuO nano-flowers, and the possible growth mechanisms of the four different CuO nano-flowers were proposed. In addition, we find that the CuO nano-flower(iv) shows better sensing performance than the other three CuO nano-flowers. Our research proves that the shapes and morphologies of CuO nano-flowers are essential to the gas sensing properties of CuO nano-flowers, which may bring great development in gas sensing applications.
