- Abstract: The current study examines whether the proposition of change in crack geometry for indentation cracks as a function of load is applicable in case of highly brittle ceramics. An experimental study conducted on one energy materials (perovskite) and Ca-phosphate based bio-ceramic proved it clearly that, except very low indentation load(≤ 1 Kgf), the geometry is predominantly radial median in nature. Accordingly, suitable equations for calculating KIC are to be chosen.
