- Abstract: In this paper, the partial slip behavior of a spherical indenter on a functionally graded piezoelectric coating attached to a piezoelectric substrate is considered. The electromechanical constants of the functionally graded piezoelectric coating vary as the exponential gradation form within the thickness-coordinate. The partial slip contact problem is reduced to a system of singular integral equations with Cauchy kernels by making use of the Hankel transform technology. To solve the coupled singular integral equations, an approximate solution method is employed. The impact of the gradient index, friction coefficient and different piezoelectric substrates on the normal and radial tangential tractions are analyzed and discussed.
