- Abstract : Surv Anesthesiol 2016;60(2):78–79 Lipid rescue, or lipid emulsion (LE), has been shown to resuscitate patients from cardiac-related effects of local anesthetics and from toxicities caused by a wide range of drugs, such as calcium channel blockers, β-blockers, and psychoactive agents. Using nonselective opioid receptor antagonists (ORAs) and highly selective ORAs, the authors of this study examined whether the rescue action of LE is mediated through central or peripheral opioid receptors.
