- Abstract : Surv Anesthesiol 2016;60(2):47–48 Patients recovering from cardiac surgery often experience postoperative delirium. Although its causes are unclear, they are thought to include pain, sleep deprivation, anesthetic and narcotic effects, concomitant medications, surgical stress, and the body's inflammatory response to surgery.
