Abstract

Abstract : The simultaneous occurrence of meningioma and lung cancer with dural metastasis is an unusual event. However, contiguous occurrence of meningioma and dural metastasis is a less rare evidence. We present a case of bilateral occipital lesions which, on the imaging, mimic bilateral falcine meningiomas. However, the histopathologic findings confirmed that the left-sided lesion originating from the falx cerebri was meningioma, whereas the right-sided falcine lesion was lung carcinoma metastasis. The bilateral falcine neoplasms are generally the single histopathologic type, mainly meningioma. It should be emphasized that the bilateral falcine mass lesions occurring in patients with known potential malignant tumors elsewhere in the body have a small but real chance of being 2 distinct types, which is helpful for treatment strategy and prognosis evaluation.
