- Abstract: Build land use transition matrix with remote sensing images of 4 periods of 1995, 1999, 2005 and 2010, and perform quantifiable analysis on the effect of construction of Huitengxile wind farm to Ecosystem of Huitengxile Steppes with some frequently used landscape indexes. The research shows that: Construction of Huitengxile wind farm has three main effects to ecological environment of the region. First, construction of wind farm affects precipitation in the region, causing reduction of water area. Second, fan base area and fan overhaul route due to artificial construction or vehicle rolling during operation of wind farm will cause reduction of grassland area. Third, new irregular fan overhaul route separates large grassland to smaller patches, increasing fragmentation and shape complexity of landscape and reducing dominance of the grassland, which will further weaken the control effect of natural facts such grassland to the landscape and reduce the stability of ecological system in the region.
