Abstract

Abstract : ( Acta Obstet Gynecol Scand. 2016;95(10):1153–1161) While previous studies have reported increased risks of adverse events in pregnancies following kidney transplantation, the authors of this study noted design flaws and a need for validation. These adverse events, including cesarean section, gestational diabetes, preterm delivery and preeclampsia, are of particular concern because they may be associated with an increased risk of acute kidney injury. Previous work on this subject mostly consists of case reports with small sample sizes or single-center studies, and the few studies conducted using national registries have limitations. With preeclampsia as the main outcome, this national retrospective cohort study examined the risks for major obstetrical complications in women who have received kidney transplants (exposed) compared with those who have not (unexposed).
