- Abstract : Novel fluorescent probes based on a tridentate Mg 2+ -selective chelator enabled the detection of intracellular Mg 2+ concentration change without any response to Ca 2+ . Abstract : We developed highly selective fluorescent Mg 2+ probes based on a novel tridentate Mg 2+ -selective chelator. The superior selectivity for Mg 2+ over Ca 2+ enabled the detection of intracellular Mg 2+ concentration changes without any response to Ca 2+ influx. The new probes are potential keys to elucidating intracellular Mg 2+ dynamics under conditions of extremely sharp Ca 2+ fluctuation.
