- Abstract: This paper seeks to determine a dynamic method for machining center scheduling based on two criteria simultaneously: a setup expenditure criterion and an average orders utility criterion. Each job has to be completed before a given due date. Adjusting the center for a job includes setting up a necessary fixture and tool switches in the magazine with limited capacity. Automatic technological grouping of jobs assures low setup time for transition from one job to another within a group. In this method, the concept of production intensity as a dynamic production process parameter is used. A software package allows scheduling for a medium quantity of jobs. The algorithm makes it possible to save those tools in the magazine that are used often, and to substitute tools that are seldom used. The result of software application is a set of non-dominant (non-improved) versions proposed to a user for making a final choice.
