- Abstract : A tailor‐made ligand with different metal binding sites was introduced to the coordination chemistry of the coinage metals. As a result of the different metal binding sites (bipyridine vs. phosphine), two different coinage metals can be selectively anchored into the coordination compartments. Investigation of the photophysical properties in the solid state revealed different behavior between Au‐Cu, Au‐Ag, and Ag‐Ag compounds. The picture shows all three coinage metals, the corresponding {AuCu2 } and {AuAg2 } complexes, as well as some photoluminescence spectra of the reported complexes.
